Growing Across Generations: Tian Hup Seng's Bakery Journey with Lian Huat

Established in 1977, Tian Hup Seng (天合成饼坊) has built a family business in the bakery industry over several decades. Today, the business is managed by its third generation, continuing a journey that began nearly five decades ago.

Lian Huat's relationship with Tian Hup Seng dates back to 1992, when the bakery purchased its first Rack Oven from Lian Huat. As the business expanded, it purchased a second unit in 1999 and a third in 2011.

Notably, the first Lian Huat Rack Oven, purchased in 1992, remains in use today.

Three Rack Ovens Across Different Stages of Growth

Tian Hup Seng's purchasing history with Lian Huat spans three milestones:

  • 1992 — First Lian Huat Rack Oven: The bakery purchased its first Rack Oven from Lian Huat. This unit remains in use today.

  • 1999 — Second Rack Oven: As the business expanded, a second unit was purchased.

  • 2011 — Third Rack Oven: A third unit was subsequently purchased as the bakery continued to grow.

These purchases took place at different stages of the bakery's development, reflecting how equipment requirements can evolve alongside a growing business.

A Family Bakery Through Three Generations

Running a family business across generations involves carrying forward established practices while responding to changing business needs.

For Tian Hup Seng, its development from a bakery established in 1977 to a business managed by the third generation provides the broader context for its long-standing relationship with Lian Huat.

The three Rack Oven purchases form part of this history. Rather than representing a single investment, they document equipment acquisitions made over different periods as the business expanded.

The continued use of the first Rack Oven purchased from Lian Huat in 1992 is another notable detail in this customer story. It reflects the history of this particular unit, while recognising that operating conditions and maintenance requirements vary from machine to machine.

Looking Back on a Long-Standing Relationship

At Lian Huat, we value the opportunity to work with customers as their businesses develop over time. Tian Hup Seng's experience provides a real example of how a customer relationship can span different stages of a bakery's growth.

We thank Tian Hup Seng and Mr. Lim for sharing this part of their story with us. We appreciate their continued trust and support over the years.
